True Cost of Washington Tour logo that reads, "Pay More, Get Less" - a reference to Washington's failed policies that are driving inflation, gas prices, and the high cost of living in 2022.

While Washington has made plenty of promises to lower gas prices and curb inflation — it’s proven to be nothing but lip service. Gas prices in 2022 continue to rise, groceries bills reach new heights every day, and many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

That’s why Americans for Prosperity’s True Cost of Washington Tour has been visiting cities around Pennsylvania, and the rest of the U.S, to educate everyday Americans about the true cost of Washington and lower gas prices to what they were before President Joe Biden took office — $2.38, about half of what consumers are paying today.

Ashley Klingensmith, the director of Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania, joined Fox & Friends to talk about the True Cost Tour event in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.

Cars began arriving at 8 a.m. The line for the discounted gas stretched down the block, as Pennsylvanians waited for the opportunity to fill their tanks at a cost that, even just a few years ago, would have been rather unextraordinary.

Now, due to our government’s rampant spending and dismissal of the impacts of inflation, $2.38 a gallon is unheard of.

Klingensmith told host Ainsley Earhardt:

We are connecting with people right at the gas pump. [We are] hearing their story about how inflation […] is impacting their family and then connecting them with the solutions we believe Washington could act on right now to alleviate some of this pain.”

Activists spent time during the event in Lower Burrell empowering residents to make a real difference in America’s future. One customer filled up their tank for just $24. “We miss those types of prices,” Earhardt said.

Klingensmith then explained how viewers could join their local American For Prosperity chapters in the grassroots fight to unleash energy abundance, reduce wasteful Washington spending, and ignite innovation. She also encouraged Pennsylvanians to learn more about the causes of inflation on the The True Cost of Washington website.

Lower Burrell is just one of the many locations the True Cost Tour is stopping through to provide gas price relief and education on inflation’s causes and solutions.

The next stops for the True Cost Tour in Pennsylvania include Monroeville on July 4 as well as Latrobe and Export on July 5.
