True Cost of Washington Tour logo that reads, "Pay More, Get Less" - a reference to Washington's failed policies that are driving inflation, gas prices, and the high cost of living in 2022.

Holly Langton, Americans for Prosperity’s grassroots logistics manager, spent nine days with the True Cost of Washington Tour road crew this summer. “It was a blast,” she said of her time on the road. She also did a lot behind the scenes to ensure the Tour went smoothly. “It was a blast,” she said of her time on the Tour.

She also shared reflections similar to those shared by her True Cost teammates: everyday Americans struggling to make ends meet and wrestling with hard choices wrought by inflation.

The American people are really struggling at the pump, at the grocery store, etc. and the bad policies coming out of Washington aren’t helping. We need to change the direction of this country,” she told us.

How do you feel now that the True Cost truck is retired?

HL: Sad. It was an amazing experience and adventure. The team we put together was outstanding, and the stories we heard from folks were unforgettable.

You went to a lot of cities. Was there anything in common from stop to stop?

HL: I went to four cities with the team, so many people would come out of the store with change from their gas purchase with the biggest smile on their face saying that hadn’t happened in a long time.

What did you hear most from the customers you spoke with along the tour?

HL: How thankful they were to get a little bit of relief at the pump, they are able to use that extra money towards their groceries, kids clothing, etc.

How did you see inflation and high prices affecting people? Was there anything that stood out?

HL: People having to make a choice of putting food on the table or fill their gas tank, gas over new clothing, etc.

How many miles did you drive?

HL: I drove 746 miles: Scottsdale, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada to Sparks, Nevada. I also joined the team for the last tour stop event in Sterling, Virginia.

What is one thing you’d like people who can make a difference to know about what you saw or heard from folks along the tour?

HL: The American people are really struggling at the pump, at the grocery store, etc. and the bad policies coming out of Washington aren’t helping. We need to change the direction of this country.
