AFP Commends Trump Administration for Commitment to Reining in Burdensome Regulations

Dec 14, 2017 by AFP

Arlington, Va. –  Americans for Prosperity praised the Trump administration today for working diligently to eliminate overly burdensome federal regulations that stifle economic growth, waste taxpayer dollars and limit individual freedom. Thursday afternoon the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) released the Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions, which details President Trump’s deregulation efforts during his time in office thus far and sets promising goals for regulatory cost savings in FY 2018. The grassroots group called the agenda a welcome departure from the heavy-handed federal rulemaking Americans experienced under the Obama administration.

AFP’s Vice President of External Affairs Chrissy Harbin issued the following statement:

“We applaud the Trump administration for swiftly delivering on a campaign promise to cut red tape in federal government. Since taking office, President Trump and federal agency heads have shown impressive progress in dismantling overreaching Obama-era regulations that undermine U.S. competitiveness in practically every sector and make life more expensive for American families. Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney and Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs Administrator Neomi Rao deserve much credit for their leadership in reining in the regulatory state. We look forward to continuing our work with the Trump administration to advance the President’s bold agenda that prioritizes deregulation and historic tax reform, which will continue to yield robust economic growth and opportunity for all Americans.”

As one of the nation’s largest grassroots advocates for economic freedom and limited government, AFP has long championed efforts to rein in unaccountable federal bureaucracy, wasteful spending and the out-of-control regulatory environment imposed by Washington.
