ST. PAUL, Minn. – Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota (AFP-MN) today urged the House to reject HF1833, the House Energy and Climate Finance and Policy Division’s omnibus bill that includes a 100% carbon-free energy mandate.

“Instead of expensive mandates, regulations, and corporate favoritism, lawmakers should be unleashing entrepreneurs to develop new and better technology that will both protect our environment and keep energy affordable for Minnesota families and businesses. We are already facing an onslaught of tax hikes, and this energy proposal will make things worse by saddling Minnesotans with inevitable cost increases,” said Jason Flohrs, AFP-MN State Director. “Minnesotans will be worse off under this plan as their energy costs skyrocket, hurting our state’s economy as businesses look to other locations to set up shop and grow. We urge the legislature to reject these barriers to innovation and pursue an energy strategy that focuses on delivering affordable and reliable energy.”

Energy Proposal Drives Up Costs for Minnesota Families, Stifles Innovation and Opportunity (3/4/19)
Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota re-launched the Roadmap to Prosperity at the beginning of this legislative session that serves as a framework for lawmakers when analyzing policy proposals and legislation. The Roadmap focuses on restoring fiscal stability, igniting the Minnesota economy, focusing on sound investment for our future, helping expand the American Dream for future generations, and protecting taxpayers from out of control spending and over-regulation.
AFP-MN has also urged lawmakers to reject the governor’s proposed regressive tax increases that would hit hardest the families that are already struggling to make ends meet.
