AFP Applauds President Trump for Signing the Historic First Step Act Into Law

Dec 21, 2018 by AFP

ARLINGTON, Va. – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today applauded President Trump for signing the First Step Act into law. The President and his administration, including senior White House advisor Jared Kushner, have been tireless advocates of this historic legislation.

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips issued the following statement:

“The First Step Act is transformative criminal justice legislation that will reduce crime, save taxpayer dollars, break down barriers, and provide many individuals with second chances to become productive, law-abiding members of their communities. This bill would not have been possible without the steadfast leadership of President Trump and others in his administration like Jared Kushner who worked tirelessly with bipartisan champions in Congress to get it over the finish line. By itself, the First Step Act is a game-changer for our criminal justice system, but we have more to do and we look forward to working with the President and leaders on all sides to help even more people improve their lives.”
