Watch: One man’s fight to change an outdated, unjust occupational restriction in Iowa

Apr 23, 2020 by AFP

Waterloo, Iowa resident William Burt had dreams of operating his own mobile barbershop, which he designed to provide free haircuts to underserved communities.

But the state’s outdated occupational regulations laws stood in the way. They prevented William from providing his services to those in need, with state regulators claiming that mobile barbershops violated sanitation requirements.

That’s when Americans for Prosperity-Iowa joined forces with William Burt to get this law changed and legalize his mobile barbershop.

Watch the mini-documentary, The Right Cut: A Barber Builds a Movement, to learn more about William’s fight to reform Iowa law.
