Nashville, TN – Yesterday, Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee (AFP-TN) hosted a gathering at the State Capitol to celebrate the start of the 114th General Assembly. More than 60 grassroots activists from across the state gathered at the Capitol to advocate for policy priorities aimed at building a stronger and more prosperous Tennessee. AFP’s ‘Volunteer Way’ legislative agenda outlines the organization’s focus on expanding universal school choice, advancing the REINS Act, banning statewide property taxes, and increasing transparency in the House.
School choice reform is a top priority for AFP this legislative session. AFP has already launched a statewide school choice campaign with Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Knox County Mayor Glen Jacobs. Both leaders expressed strong support for expanding education freedom in the state, believing that every family, regardless of income, deserves access to a high-quality education that fits their specific learning needs.
AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable released the following statement:
“At Americans for Prosperity, we are excited to kick off the 114th General Assembly at the forefront of advancing critical policies that work to expand freedom and prosperity in Tennessee.
“Universal school choice is at the top of our agenda. Tennessee families deserve better than outdated education policies and unnecessary barriers. Education funds should follow the student, allowing every child the opportunity to succeed in a school that meets their unique needs.
“This session, we’re committed to driving meaningful change by continuing our work alongside lawmakers and activists to champion legislation that puts Tennesseans first and allows everyone to pursue their version of the American Dream.”
