ICYMI: Americans for Prosperity – Ohio State Director Donovan O’Neil Talks Renewing the TCJA on the Alan Nathan Show
Columbus, OH – Last week, Americans for Prosperity – Ohio (AFP-OH) State Director Donovan O’Neil joined the Alan Nathan Show, to discuss the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), renewing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), and AFP’s Protect Prosperity campaign in response to President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress. AFP stands in firm support of President Trump’s vision to build on historic tax cuts, eliminate government waste, and advance bold policies that expand freedom and prosperity for every American.
At the state level, AFP-OH applauds Ohio legislators for introducing concurrent resolutions, one in the House and one in the Senate, calling on the Ohio delegation to support the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) and Protect Prosperity. The concurrent resolutions were introduced just weeks after AFP-OH, alongside dozens of Ohio grassroots organizations, released a letter expressing strong support for the TCJA and urging Ohio legislators to take immediate action to make its provisions permanent.
During the show, Donovan O’Neil highlighted the need to keep taxes low:
“We put a $20 million investment into elevating and making permanent the Trump tax cuts; it’s part of our Protect Prosperity campaign. The President made it very clear from the bully pulpit, if you will, that we’ve got to get this done. Congress has to deliver this relief, because, if they fail to act, Americans are going to see their tax bills go up by an average of $1500 per family. There’s a lot of folks can do with that money, far better than the government, and it’s theirs to keep – they’re entitled to it.
“Our friends on the progressive left are pulling from the same playbook they’ve been pulling from since the Reagan tax cuts, right? It’s that these [tax cuts] are only for the rich, but folks know the truth here. When the government stops taking your money, you put that money to use in your community. Tax cuts benefit all Americans, and if Congress fails to act, we’ll see the reality of what happens when they don’t.”
