AFP Applauds President Trump’s Agenda to Build on Historic Tax Cuts, Will Activate Grassroots Army to Fight for Solutions Americans Deserve

WASHINGTON, DC – Americans for Prosperity’s Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s address last night to a joint session of Congress:

“Last night President Trump called for solutions Americans deserve – from cutting government waste, to securing our borders, unleashing American energy and reining in government overreach. While the work that lies ahead won’t be easy, now is the time to deliver bold policies that lead to more freedom and more opportunity for all Americans to live the American dream.

“We applaud President Trump for calling on Congress to build on the success of his historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Renewing the TCJA is a top priority to avert a massive tax hike on millions of Americans at a time when they can least afford it – and with razor thin margins, it would be a mistake to assume that extending this historic achievement will be easy. Congress should ensure that Americans see the benefits of President Trump’s tax cuts as soon as possible and AFP will activate the full force of our grassroots army to ensure that gets done.”

“President Trump laid out an ambitious agenda to restore the American dream and unleash a new era of prosperity for every American. We look forward to all that we can accomplish together to build a brighter future for our country.”

For 20 years, Americans for Prosperity has mobilized its millions-strong grassroots network to advance policies based on the timeless principles of individual freedom, limited government, rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and human dignity.

In 2023 and 2024, AFP and AFP Action reached a record of nearly 30 million voters, and in the year ahead, AFP will bring the voices of its 50-state network directly to the halls of Congress to inform how lawmakers think about the critical fiscal inflection points of 2025.

In January, AFP launched a major $20 million campaign calling on Congress to renew President Trump’s historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – the largest effort to date by any group to support President Trump’s second-term agenda.
