Arlington, Va. — Americans for Prosperity (AFP) praised the Senate today following the confirmation of Judge Patrick Bumatay to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The Senate is scheduled to vote later this week on another nominee, Lawrence VanDyke.
Casey Mattox, Vice President, Legal & Judicial Strategy, Americans for Prosperity, issued the following statement:
“In Patrick Bumatay, the President has nominated a highly qualified and experienced individual, committed to supporting and defending the Constitution – rather than seeking to legislate from the bench. We applaud Chairman Graham and the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee for their support of Bumatay and Senator McConnell for his continued commitment to confirming fair and qualified nominees to the federal bench.”
In October, AFP announced support for Bumatay and VanDyke’s nominations. Bumatay currently serves as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California. Lawrence VanDyke serves as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice.
