JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Missouri (AFP-MO) praised Governor Mike Kehoe for championing the need to get to zero income tax in Missouri and expand education freedom in his 2025 state of the state address, which fell during National School Choice Week.

As a champion for taxpayers in the Show Me State, AFP-MO fully supports Gov. Kehoe’s efforts to eliminate the state income tax to make Missouri a more attractive place for businesses, entrepreneurs, and families to thrive.

AFP-MO also applauds Gov. Kehoe’s effort to bolster the state’s MO Scholars program with another $50 million investment and expand the state’s charter system, so that every student can receive a world-class education, no matter their income or zip code.

AFP-MO State Director Gary Hollis gave the following statement:

“Governor Kehoe’s first state of the state address demonstrated that he is ready to hit the ground running on the issues that affect Missouri’s families the most. There is nothing more impactful for Missouri’s economy and to Missouri’s families than implementing a zero percent income tax.

“Additionally, Gov. Kehoe’s plans to expand school choice will transform lives and generate opportunity for countless students who have been trapped in failing schools for too long. 2025 will be a transformational year for Missouri, that will begin to solidify Missouri’s place as one of the top states in the country to do business and raise a family.  We’re excited to work alongside Gov. Kehoe and the state legislature to produce results for Missouri’ families.”

Background:

In December, AFP-MO launched a campaign to eliminate the state income tax, including door-to-door grassroots advocacy and a “Zero Income Tax Tour” which will take the message of tax reform to ever corner of the state.
