WASHINGTON, D.C. —Earlier today, President Trump announced that he is extending his waiver of the Jones Act by another 90 days. Brent Gardner, Chief Government Affairs Officer and Senior Vice President for Americans for Prosperity, praised the president’s actions in the following statement:
“The President is right to extend the Jones Act waiver – an outdated and flawed policy that has long driven up the cost of everything from fuel to food. For decades, the Jones Act has stifled competition, inflated shipping costs, and made it harder to move goods between U.S. ports. Suspending it will help lower prices, strengthen our energy security, and put American consumers first. Congress should seize this moment to permanently end this harmful policy once and for all.”
