AFP’s Tax Day Ads Warn Americans of Massive Tax Hikes Next Year if TCJA Not Renewed
Columbus, OH – Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is launching a seven-figure ad and grassroots campaign highlighting what will be a Tax Day nightmare next year for working families across STATE if Congress fails to renew the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). This critical legislation has provided essential tax relief to families and small businesses nationwide and is overwhelmingly supported by hardworking Americans.
AFP-OH applauds recent progress made in H.B. 28 as well as tax cuts in the new Ohio House budget proposal, both of which display movements toward a flatter and simpler tax policy that unleashes growth and removes barriers to opportunity so all Americans can improve their lives.
AFP-OH was also instrumental in the House and Senate concurrent resolutions introduced to the Ohio legislature last month.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil released the following statement:
“The 2017 Trump tax cuts were the most pro-growth tax reform efforts in American history, and AFP was proud to work alongside President Trump and leaders in Congress to give hardworking Americans much needed relief.
“At the end of the year, key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will expire. As a result, the average hardworking family in Ohio will face a $2,000 federal tax hike. AFP-OH is committed to reminding taxpayers that lawmakers like Rep. Kaptur are standing in the way of extending the Trump tax cuts for Ohio families, workers, and small businesses so they keep more of their hard-earned money.”
In addition to digital and radio ads, AFP-OH will be hosting an event today in Norton to underscore the urgency to act.
This campaign is a continuation of AFP’s $20 million commitment made in January – the largest investment of any outside limited-government conservative organization in support of a key pillar of President Trump’s agenda. In 2023 and 2024, AFP and AFP Action reached out to nearly 30 million voters.
