Senate Passes Student Success Act, Bringing Educational Opportunity One Step Closer for All Students

Jun 3, 2019 by AFP

CHARLESTON, WV – Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia (AFP-WV) today commended the Senate for passing the Student Success Act and the Education Savings Account Act. Together these transformative pieces of legislation empower students, educators and families all across the Mountain State.

“West Virginia is one step closer to giving every West Virginia student access to an education that will help them succeed in life. The Student Success Act and universal education savings accounts are the bold reforms our state needs to improve education,” said Jason Huffman, AFP-WV State Director. “We thank the Senate for moving West Virginia forward so educators are paid fairly and given the opportunity to innovate in the classroom, and no student’s educational experience is restricted by their ZIP code or family income. The House should not miss this opportunity to provide a quality education for every student in West Virginia.”

AFP-WV has been at the forefront of pushing lawmakers to support educational freedom for all West Virginians. Last week, the grassroots group announced a robust digital, mail, TV, and radio effort that calls for lawmakers to support the Student Success Act and universal ESAs.
