JOHNSON on the keys to America’s success:

Individual freedom, limited government, rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and human dignity… Those are the essential foundations of the country. Those are the things that we must preserve.”

On what the American Dream means to him:

“The essence of the American dream is that if you work hard and play by the rules you can make a better life for yourself and your children. That’s what’s defined us as a country.

“The problem is right now the American dream has been pulled further beyond the grasp of more people because they’re being crushed by inflation, crushed by government regulation and taxation.

“The American dream to many people seems like just that, something that’s not achievable. It’s a dream beyond their grasp. We have to bring it back within their grasp. I think we have the answers to the challenges facing us and the answers that will make that possible.”

On what it’s like working with AFP as a lawmaker:

“I’m a big fan of AFP and I’ve said this many times over the years, it’s one of the most effective organizations I’ve ever seen.

“Reagan said we want an ‘informed patriotism’, and AFP does an extraordinary job with that.

“AFP has had some of the most effective mail pieces I’ve ever seen. I mean, we’ve had lawmakers do a 180 on their positions because they were called out. I think that is a critical role that needs to be played in the upcoming election cycle.”
