Grassroots group criticizes New Hampshire senator for opposing qualified nominee
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today expressed disappointment in Senator Shaheen’s announcement to oppose Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaugh was confirmed to the federal bench with bipartisan support and AFP has committed its full resources and grassroots infrastructure in support of his nomination.
“Judge Kavanaugh’s extensive record and recent hearing demonstrates his priorities rest with upholding the Constitution and the rule of law. Senator Shaheen is openly playing politics with her opposition to this well-qualified candidate and doubling down on the partisanship playbook of her Washington colleagues,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director. “It’s disappointing Senator Shaheen is voting against Kavanaugh because he will respect the proper role of judges and refrain from driving any political agenda. Granite Staters should not be denied a qualified jurist who is committed to interpreting the law as written and defending the Constitution.”
Background:
Senator Shaheen claimed Judge Kavanaugh’s record “remains a mystery.” However, Judge Kavanaugh’s judicial record is well known. Kavanaugh has written over 300 opinions as a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals District of Columbia Circuit and the Administration has released over 480,000 pages of records relating to his legal and judicial background.
Americans for Prosperity launched a seven-figures paid advertising and grassroots engagement in support of Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
