ICYMI: Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina Leading the Conversation on Tax Reform

Mar 24, 2025 by AFP

Charleston, SC—In case you missed it, grassroots powerhouse Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) is leading the conversation on tax reform throughout the Palmetto State.

AFP-SC established early on in its South Carolina Freedom Initiative that flattening the tax code while working towards the full elimination of the state income tax is a top priority over the next ten years. Recently, AFP-SC assembled state lawmakers playing pivotal roles in the Lowcountry to discuss the progress in the legislature with voters.

During the meeting, lawmakers such as State Senator Tom Fernandez (SD-39) and State Representatives Mark Smith (HD-99), Harriett Holman (HD-102), and Jordan Pace (HD-117) spoke about making South Carolina more competitive not only with our neighbors in the south but removing South Carolina’s current tax status that is more reflective to states such as New York and Delaware.

AFP-SC was also joined by Chairman of the Charleston GOP, Andrew Boucher, who works alongside AFP for grassroots initiatives. AFP-SC will continue working towards lower taxes for hardworking families so the tax burden faced does not drive folks out of South Carolina.

In the coming days, AFP-SC will stand with Americans for Tax Reform and continue leading the conversation around state income tax reform while also partnering with State Senator Ross Turner (SD-08) at an event in Simpsonville.
