Americans For Prosperity Virginia Backs Press Freedom Legislation
Strong and independent journalism allows Americans to access information that enriches public discourse and enables citizens to hold their government accountable. HB36 & SB80 ensure the freedom of the press that protects journalistic pursuits extends to student journalists as well. APF-VA is proud to support both this legislative session.
State Director JC Hernandez issued the following statement regarding the bills:
“Protecting student journalists from censorship enables them to freely seek out and report on stories and, in doing so, enrich discourses within their schools and universities. HB36 & SB80 allows students to exercise their speech rights and refine their skills in an open educational environment.”
