Americans for Prosperity Urges Congress to Pass the Continuing Resolution to Prevent a Government Shutdown
Arlington, VA – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is calling on legislators to fulfill their responsibilities and support the funding bill this week to prevent a harmful government shutdown.
President Trump and Congressional Republicans are working to keep the government open and advance policies that benefit the American people. However, some Democrats in Washington are threatening a shutdown — placing politics above progress.
Brent Gardner, AFP’s Chief Government Affairs Officer, said:
“This showdown over funding the government is about one thing – trying to slow the progress made by President Trump and Congressional Republicans and delay policy solutions Americans desperately need. Voters overwhelmingly rejected the policies of the Biden administration and far-left progressive Democrats, and now their only response is to shut the whole thing down. This approach is irresponsible, blatantly partisan, and simply wrong.
“AFP is strongly urging Congress to pass the funding bill this week to keep the government open and work to deliver the solutions Americans deserve. This CR is the first step to keeping reconciliation on track and stopping the largest tax increase in history.”
