Americans for Prosperity Unveils Updated Path to Prosperity
Grassroots group presents its 2020 legislative policy agenda
CHARLESTON, WV – Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia (AFP-WV) today announced the release of its updated “Path to Prosperity”. The Path to Prosperity is a comprehensive policy agenda that embodies the bottom up solutions that will change the state’s status quo and help our fellow Mountaineers reach their full potential. Launched last year, the policy agenda seeks to elevate and amplify voices of West Virginians across the state who want to remove the barriers that are holding them back.

Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia (AFP-WV) Jason Huffman issued the following statement:
“For too long, the good ole’ boy system that once characterized our state’s politics has left too many people behind. West Virginia has economic potential, but this top-down system has created a two tiered-society that has rigged our political and economic system in favor of the well-connected at the expense of our state’s future.
“The Path to Prosperity offers a different approach that gives state lawmakers a guideline to enacting proven bottom-up approaches that will help increase opportunity for all West Virginians. There’s a lot of work to be done to change our public policies and government for the better, but we’re willing to work with anyone who shares our vision of a brighter future and wants to make a positive difference.”
AFP-WV wants to enable every West Virginian to live their version of the American dream. In 2020, the grassroots group will advocate for the following policy goals:
- Criminal justice reform – reform the outdated and unfair criminal justice system
- Focused government – keep government within its proper role without burdening taxpayers with overregulation and overspending
- Occupational licensing – eliminate barriers that prevent people from practicing their occupation of choice
- Health Care – reform health care, so more people can access better care at a lower cost
- Free speech – ensure every West Virginian can participate in public discourse
- Education – help students fulfill their potential
