HARRISBURG, Pa. – Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) State Director Ashley Klingensmith on Tuesday released the following statement ahead of Governor Tom Wolf’s budget address:

“Governor Wolf should be focused on creating a tax and regulatory climate that removes barriers to opportunity for Commonwealth residents. As we move into the second half of the legislative session, AFP will continue to support tax reform efforts to make the tax code simple, competitive, and more equitable in Pennsylvania. We will also stand ready to work collaboratively to create a criminal justice system that preserves public safety, respects human dignity and removes barriers to opportunity for people with criminal records.”

“The Taxpayer Protection Act, which is expected to receive a final vote in the House this week, is a great first step towards restoring spending sanity in our state and I would encourage legislators in both chambers to support the plan. We cannot continue to inflate our state budget indefinitely while imposing higher and higher taxes on our families and businesses. We have the talent, resources and willpower to build on our state’s economic momentum, all we need is sound fiscal policy.”

“Americans for Prosperity and our community of grassroots activists will continue to promote the policies and principles that will lead to a brighter future for all Pennsylvanians.”
