LAS VEGAS, NV – Ahead of Senator Jacky Rosen’s campaign appearance with Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz this weekend, Americans for Prosperity – Nevada (AFP-NV) is highlighting Senator Rosen’s support for the Biden-Harris administration’s failed economic agenda that has contributed to Nevada households spending an extra $31,369 due to inflation since January 2021.

AFP-NV State Director Ronnie Najarro released the following statement:

“Despite Jacky Rosen’s desperate attempts to make herself appear moderate, the reality of her voting record tells a different story. Senator Rosen’s votes for the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act early in the Biden-Harris administration led to the highest levels of inflation America has seen in 40 years. This inflation has hit Nevada even harder than the national average.

“Under the Biden-Harris administration, Nevadans and the Silver State suffered from higher inflation rates than other states. Skyrocketing housing, mortgage, and rent costs continue to plague our state, with homeowners having to earn more than $100,000 just to afford a monthly mortgage payment.

“Instead of campaigning with Kamala Harris and doubling down on these failed policies, Senator Rosen must explain her votes to Nevadans. Until then, we will continue to call out Rosen’s failed record and the devastating impact it has had on our state.”

Background

A July Las Vegas Review-Journal article highlighted the housing crisis in Nevada, concluding average households need to earn more than the median income to afford rent and the average homeowner needs to earn over $100,000 for a mortgage payment.

A June report from the Joint Economic Committee revealed the average household is spending $1,187 more each month for goods and services than it was in January 2021.

Along with voting for the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, Senator Rosen voted with President Biden’s agenda 92.5% of the time. In 2022, the Reno Gazette Journal concluded Nevada was tied for the worst inflation rate in the country.
