Americans for Prosperity – Minnesota Issues Statement on the Start of the State Legislative Session

Feb 12, 2024 by AFP

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, at the start of the Minnesota legislature’s 2024 session, Americans for Prosperity – Minnesota (AFP-MN) encourages Governor Tim Walz and members of the state legislature to produce reforms that will make life in the North Star State more affordable after last year’s onslaught of tax and spending increases.

Throughout 2024, AFP-MN will continue to spotlight government waste and cut through red tape to promote economic growth and prosperity.

AFP-MN State Director Jake Coleman said the following:

“Minnesotans deserve better than a representative body who pile on taxes during a cost-of-living crisis. This year, the Democrat majority has a choice between fixing the mistakes of last year’s budget debacle and doubling down on unpopular cultural crusades. Voters should pay close attention to which they choose.”

Background:

In January, AFP-MN launched the “One Expensive Minnesota” campaign to raise the public’s awareness of the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party’s 2023 budget that grew state spending from $52 billion to $72 billion and effectively eliminated the state’s $17.5 billion budget surplus.
