Americans for Prosperity Marks One-Year Anniversary of the Working Families Tax Cut

ARLINGTON, VA — Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) marked the one-year anniversary of the Working Families Tax Cut, highlighting the legislation’s role in advancing pro-growth policies that empower Americans, strengthen the economy, and keep government accountable.

Brent Gardner, Chief Government Affairs Officer for Americans for Prosperity, issued the following statement:

One year ago, Congress took an important step toward restoring economic freedom and creating an environment where Americans can keep more of what they earn, businesses can invest with confidence, and families have greater opportunities to succeed.

While there is still more work to do to rein in federal spending and make government more accountable, the Working Families Tax Cut demonstrated what is possible when lawmakers prioritize policies that empower people instead of expanding bureaucracy.

One year later, it’s time to build on that momentum by advancing policies that expand freedom, unleash opportunity, and keep government accountable to the people it serves. AFP will continue fighting to ensure that pro-growth, people-first approach guides the policies of tomorrow.

As part of this grassroots effort, Americans for Prosperity has knocked 1,663,574 doors, made 877,150 phone calls, and held 1288 events demonstrating an unwavering commitment to engaging voters and advancing policies that promote opportunity and prosperity. AFP also recognizes the leadership of lawmakers who worked to move the legislation across the finish line.

Through broad-based grassroots outreach, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is driving long-term solutions to the country’s biggest problems. AFP activists engage friends and neighbors on key issues and encourage them to take an active role in building a culture of mutual benefit, where people succeed by helping one another. AFP recruits and unites activists in all 50 states behind a common goal of advancing policies that will help people improve their lives. For more information, visit www.AmericansForProsperity.org
