FRANKFORT, KY – Following the Senate Committee on State and Local Government voting to remove a provision from HB 509 that would limit public records, Americans for Prosperity – Kentucky (AFP-KY) is thanking the Committee for preserving access to the Kentucky Open Records Act.

AFP-KY State Director Heather LeMire released the following statement:

“We thank the Senate Committee on State and Local Government for today’s decision to remove a provision that would lead to less transparency and limit Kentuckians’ access to public records.

“We also thank Rep. John Hodgson (District 36) in particular for his diligent efforts in improving HB 509. While there is still work to be done, today’s vote is an important step forward. We look forward to continuing working with Rep. Hodgson and the Committee to ensure transparency in the Bluegrass state by upholding Kentuckians’ access to public records.”
