Wichita, KS—Following the vote to oppose the USD 259 bond which would impose high property taxes long term to fund school projects in Wichita, Americans for Prosperity-Kansas (AFP-KS) State Director Elizabeth Patton issued the following statement:
“Our parents and students need to be empowered to direct their tax dollars to the learning options that best fit their needs, not unaffordable property tax hikes. AFP-KS is fighting for better budget accountability and reforming our income and property taxes because each hard-working Kansan should see their tax dollars drive outcomes. We are encouraged by tonight’s vote outcome to oppose the USD 259 bond and look forward to empowering parents for better educational outcomes without establishing a trajectory of even higher taxes for Kansans.”
AFP-KS utilized mail, digital ads, and its grassroots base to oppose the USD 259 bond. To learn more about the organization’s “Sunflower State Solutions” 2025 legislative priorities, click here.
