WASHINGTON, DC – This week, Americans for Prosperity – Indiana awarded five members of Congress with “Pioneers for Prosperity” awards.
The award honors distinguished lawmakers who were policy champions during the 118th Congress. These leaders are on the frontlines in Congress advancing principles and policies that advance the conservative movement, while proactively opposing harmful ideas that grow the size of government and take money out of taxpayers’ paychecks. The “Pioneers for Prosperity” stood firm against ill-advised legislation that would have deepened the hardships felt by working families and worked closely with AFP in Washington as well as with our grassroots communities in their home states.
Lawmakers earned recognition for supporting bills such as the Employee Rights Act, Strategic Production Response Act, Lower Energy Costs Act, Health Care Fairness for All Act, and other pivotal pieces of legislation that offer common-sense solutions that would improve Americans’ lives.
U.S. Senators Mike Braun (R-IN) and Todd Young (R-IN), and U.S. Representatives Rudy Yakym (IN-02), Jim Banks (IN-03), and Erin Houchin (IN-09) earned this distinction for their representation of The Hoosier State.
.
Upon receiving the award, Rep. Mike Braun released the following statement:
“Americans for Prosperity is fighting for the issues Hoosiers truly care about. I’m honored to receive this award and to work with Americans for Prosperity to stand up for our shared values, make Hoosiers’ lives better, and put freedom and prosperity back at the center of American politics.”
AFP-IN State Director Joshua Webb released the following statement:
“Indiana is lucky to have leaders like Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young, and Representatives Rudy Yakym, Jim Banks, and Erin Houchin as leaders in Congress, and AFP-IN is proud to present them with this ‘Pioneers for Prosperity’ award. They have fought against the reckless, inflation-inducing policies of the Biden-Harris administration that have deepened the cost-of-living crisis in our state, and AFP-IN is excited to continue fighting alongside them on behalf of Indiana taxpayers.”
This week, AFP-IN met with Indiana Members in Washington to discuss major tax policies, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, that are set to expire at the end of 2025 which are commonly referred to as the “fiscal cliff” and what AFP’s new polling found on these key issues.
