ATLANTA, GA – Americans for Prosperity-Georgia (AFP-GA) praised State Representative Mesha Mainor, District 56, for putting policy over political games and standing up for her principles after she announced she is leaving the Democratic Party.
AFP-GA Deputy State Director Tony West released the following statement:
“We commend Representative Mesha Mainor for taking a stand against the partisan political pressure displayed by her fellow Democrats. As the only Democratic lawmaker to vote for SB 233 earlier this spring, Rep. Mainor showed her willingness to stand up for her constituents.
“We are ready to work with her, and other members, to make educational opportunities a reality for all Georgians regardless of their ZIP code.”
Background:
In March, the Georgia state House of Representatives voted down SB 233, a bill that would have provided Promise Scholarship Accounts for students.
