CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia (AFP-WV) today participated in an event at the West Virginia legislature to urge Senator Joe Manchin to vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. The event featured Senate President Carmichael and House Speaker Hanshaw. As West Virginians continue to coalesce around the President’s well-qualified nominee, they patiently await the announcement of Sen. Manchin’s support.
AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman issued the following statement:
“As this week’s confirmation hearings conclude, it is crystal clear that Judge Brett Kavanaugh has the intellect, experience, and temperament for a seat on the highest court in the land. West Virginians can have confidence that Judge Kavanaugh will be a steadfast defender of the constitution. Mountaineers are united in wanting President Trump’s excellent pick seated on the high court and we urge Senator Manchin to do right by West Virginia and vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh.”
Background:
In July, a long list of West Virginians penned a letter addressed to Senator Joe Manchin, urging his support of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
Americans for Prosperity announced the launch of its mail and digital campaign ahead of the Kavanaugh hearings. Last week, West Virginians received mailers highlighting Judge Kavanaugh’s demonstrated commitment to defending the constitution. A second piece will hit mailboxes in the Mountain State this week.
