AFP-WI: Thousands of Wisconsinites Agree: It’s Time to Strike Out the Bailout
Madison, WI – Americans for Prosperity – Wisconsin (AFP-WI) reminds legislators that Wisconsinites do not want to use their hard earned tax dollars to bail out sports teams.
AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak made the following statement:
“Wisconsinites in every corner of the state agree: spending millions of taxpayer dollars on this bailout is foul public policy and far from the home run its fans claim it to be. Governor Evers is no ‘Babe’ when he is ‘Ruth’-less with our hard-earned money. Legislators must step onto the mound and send Governor Evers’ bailout plan to the dugout. It’s time to change-up corporate welfare and strike it out once and for all.”
Nearly 4,000 Wisconsinites and counting have signed AFP-WI’s petition and oppose plans to provide hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to fund stadium improvements for a professional sports team. Additionally, a recent poll conducted by AFP-WI found that nearly two-thirds (63%) of voters oppose the bailout.1

1This poll was conducted by ARW Strategies between April 10th and 12th, 2023. In all, 800 interviews were achieved among registered voters in Wisconsin. 558 of these responses came from cell phones. The margin of error for this survey is +/- 3.46% at a confidence interval of 95%.
