AFP-West Virginia Urges Senators Manchin and Capito to Support a Permanent Solution for Dreamers, Border Security Funding to End Shutdown

CHARLESTON, WV –  As lawmakers in Washington continue discussions this week to end the government shutdown, Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia is urging Senators Manchin and Capito to work together toward a narrow solution that provides a permanent solution for Dreamers – rather than the short-term protections currently proposed. The Senate is currently scheduled to vote on Thursday on the short-term proposal.

AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman issued the following statement:

“As discussions continue and Congress prepares to consider a proposal that dually addresses Dreamers and much-needed border security, it’s critical that West Virginia’s Senators work towards a package that provides permanent legal status to Dreamers and important funding for our border security. We encourage Senators Manchin and Capito to advocate for both the critical certainty of Dreamers and for our nation’s security needs.”
This week, The Libre Initiative is making calls in West Virginia to urge Senator Manchin to support a permanent solution for Dreamers.

Last week, Americans for Prosperity released a joint letter to Congress and the president cautioning on a temporary Dreamer fix. Read that letter here.
