Richmond, VA – This week, Gov. Youngkin announced that he is scrapping college degree requirements for most state government jobs. Starting July 1, state agencies will no longer require degrees or give preference to job candidates who have college degrees.

Americans for Prosperity-Virginia (AFP-VA) State Director C.J. Sailor released the following statement:

“We thank Gov. Youngkin for improving the quality of Virginia’s state government workforce by no longer requiring a college degree for most government jobs. The current system created unnecessary barriers to work for a large segment of Virginia’s population. Lowering these barriers is vital at a time when the cost of education is through the roof and overall inflation is making all Virginians suffer. Americans for Prosperity-Virginia advocated on this critical issue alongside The Cicero Institute, and we are excited to see such transformative policy.”
