SALT LAKE CITY, UT — In honor of National School Choice Week this week, Americans for Prosperity-Utah (AFP-UT) released a statement celebrating the strides that Utah has taken to expand education freedom for its students, while calling on lawmakers to pass universal school choice into law.
AFP-UT has always believed that students’ education choices should be as unique as they are. With thousands of students still waiting for their individual learning needs to be met, AFP-UT supports expanding the state’s Education Savings Account (ESA) program so that no student is stuck on a waitlist for a school that will help them achieve their full potential.
AFP-UT State Director Kevin Greene gave the following statement:
“With National School Choice Week starting as the 2025 Utah legislative session gets underway, we’re calling on lawmakers to expand the Utah Fits All Scholarship this year and meet the educational needs of all students, families, and educators.
“Utah’s ESA program was enormously successful in its first two years, with 30,000 students who applied for 10,000 spots. Utah is on the right path but has a way to go in meeting this demand for education choice. We’re excited to continue working with state legislators to ensure every family is empowered to choose the education pathways that are best for their children.”
