AFP to Sen. Barrasso: Support the FIRST STEP Act

Nov 27, 2018 by AFP

ARLINGTON, Va. – Americans for Prosperity issued a statement today calling on Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) to support the bipartisan FIRST STEP Act, legislation that will reduce crime and recidivism, make federal sentencing laws more just, and help people who want a second chance.

AFP President Tim Phillips issued the following statement:

“We are encouraged by President Trump’s support for bipartisan criminal justice reform, but it will take the crucial support of senators like John Barrasso to get this bill to the president’s desk as soon as possible. The FIRST STEP Act will reduce recidivism by giving people who paid their debt to society the tools they need to become contributing members of the community when they return. We encourage Senator Barrasso to seize on the opportunity to make our communities safer and give Americans second chances by supporting the FIRST STEP Act.”

AFP will continue to encourage Sen. Barrasso to support the FIRST STEP Act with digital ads on social media platforms across the state. View an example of the ads below.
