AFP-South Carolina Launches Six Figure Campaign ‘Axe the Tax’ Targeting Tax Reform Package
Columbia, SC—Following the introduction of H. 4216 which would flatten the 6.2% income tax rate to 3.99% by the end of 2026 then gradually reduce to 2.49% over time, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) announced a sweeping six-figure investment behind the legislation.
As part of AFP-SC’s investment, the grassroots organization will utilize door knocking, mail, digital and radio ads, and the newly launched website AxeTheTaxSC.com to educate South Carolinians about the bill and urge legislators to support it.
AFP-SC’s robust digital effort behind H. 4216 paired with its unmatched grassroots presence in the state will bring accountability and transparency to the tax process which impacts all South Carolinians.
The campaign will target various districts across South Carolina and focus on urging voters to contact their lawmakers in support of flattening the income tax with the intent to fully eliminate it over the coming years. AFP-SC’s first-class grassroots operation will target key legislators and bring awareness to voters that the time for tax reform is now.
AFP-SC State Director, Matt Humm, made the following statement:

This legislation is the first part that South Carolina leaders need to get done this session before we can fully eliminate the income tax and make our state the freest in the south. The ‘Axe the Tax’ campaign comes as AFP-SC is also working towards tax reform at the federal level with the renewal of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). Members of Congress in Washington can help South Carolina families avoid a $2,199 income tax hike and Protect Prosperity by not allowing the TCJA to expire this year.
