COLUMBIA, SC—Today, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) is applauding the House for passing H 5164, a measure to expand the Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) program already established in South Carolina.
According to new polling by yes. every kid foundation, ESAs are widely supported by most South Carolina voters with 75% agreeing ESAs should be available to all families regardless of income.
AFP-SC State Director, Candace Carroll, released the following statement:
“As a parent, I know what it feels like to want to provide the best options for your child, especially when it comes to their future. By expanding our successful Educational Scholarship Trust Fund Act, more families throughout South Carolina will be eligible for the program thus opening doors in education for children of all different backgrounds and abilities.
“Families from across the state are already applying for this year’s fund and AFP-SC recognizes the need for more access in education for hardworking families. We hear this every day at the doors and are grateful for a committed legislature who is working towards a universal program where more children can succeed in education.”
Background
Recently, AFP-SC announced a six-figure campaign to advocate for education freedom in the Palmetto State. The campaign aims to educate constituents and call upon legislators to pass universal Education Scholarship Accounts (ESAs) through direct mail, radio ads, and grassroots activists to door knock in key legislative districts across the state.
Activists have already begun knocking doors and AFP-SC recently tweeted testimony showing most parents, regardless of party affiliation, want more choice when it comes to their child’s education.
