AFP-PA Scolds House for Expanding Prevailing Wage Footprint

Jun 25, 2024 by AFP

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania—Late yesterday, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted to expand the scope and application of prevailing wage laws on public projects in the Commonwealth.

Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) opposed the bill and issued a Key Vote Alert urging representatives to stand with taxpayers and maintain fiscal responsibility.

AFP-PA Deputy State Director Emily Greene issued the following statement after the vote:

“Harrisburg is already irresponsible with Pennsylvanians’ taxpayer dollars. By further expanding prevailing wage laws, Representatives in the House are all but ensuring that public projects and maintenance are more expensive. Taxpayers deserve to have their hard-earned dollars properly stewarded—not treated as mad money to pad the pockets of special interests.

“AFP-PA will score this vote and include it on its Taxpayer Scorecard and ensuring that Pennsylvanians know how their representatives voted.”
