AFP-Montana Launches Campaign to Support PPPA

HELENA, MT – Americans for Prosperity-Montana (AFP-Montana) launched a grassroots campaign urging support of SB 146, The Private Property Protection Act (PPPA), a critical reform to address the state’s growing housing crisis.

Montana has become one of the least affordable housing markets in the nation. Coupled with a shortage of affordable rental units, the state faces a housing crisis. The PPPA is a free-market solution that seeks to:

  • Remove unnecessary zoning barriers that drive up housing costs and limit supply.
  • Ensure property owners have the right to develop their land, increasing housing opportunities.
  • Encourage economic growth by facilitating more housing, energy, and industrial development.
  • Prevent local overregulation, ensuring that land-use restrictions are limited to actual public health and safety concerns.

AFP-Montana State Director Jesse Ramos released the following statement:

“AFP-Montana and our grassroots army of activists across Big Sky Country are urging lawmakers in Helena to take up SB 146, the PPPA. This legislation will expand housing availability, lower costs, and protect Montanans’ property rights.

“Montanans are being pushed out of our state because of affordability. We’re calling on lawmakers to vote yes on SB 146 and allow Montana to remain a place where families and businesses can thrive.”
