Jackson, MS — Today, Americans for Prosperity – Mississippi (AFP-MS) applauds Governor Tate Reeves and the Mississippi Development Authority for securing Hitachi Energy’s expansion of its transformer manufacturing facility in Copiah County. The current facility produces small power transformers and employs 475 people. Today’s historic, $528 million investment will create 654 new jobs, increase Hitachi Energy’s production capability and expand the range of small power transformers produced domestically, strengthening America’s energy grid.
AFP-MS State Director Starla Brown issued the following statement:
“Today’s announcement is exactly what pro-growth energy policy looks like in practice. The ongoing revolution in AI has greatly increased the demand for electricity as well as for equipment like small power transformers. Even a decade ago, no one would have anticipated this surge in demand. This rapid change to our nation’s economy highlights the need for Mississippi to create a flexible, business-friendly environment that welcomes investment and jobs that come with it.
“AFP-MS congratulates Governor Reeves, the Mississippi Development Authority, and Copiah County for making this happen and urges policymakers to take note that energy security is built through private investment and domestic manufacturing, not government mandates.”
