AFP-MI: Michigan should increase opportunity, not taxes

Mar 5, 2019 by AFP

Lansing, Mich. – Americans for Prosperity-Michigan (AFP-MI) State Director Annie Patnaude on Tuesday released the following statement following Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s budget address:

“Make no mistake, tripling the gas tax will hit Michiganders hard, particularly those who can least afford it. Voters soundly rejected these ideas when they defeated Proposal 1 by a 4-to-1 margin and made it clear policymakers must come up with a better solution for the state’s infrastructure needs. Rather than looking to a massive tax hike and throwing more taxpayer money into a broken system, we urge Gov. Whitmer to focus on crucial spending and regulatory reforms that would target funds toward critical infrastructure projects without raising taxes.”
