AFP Issues Key Vote Alert Against Bill to Reauthorize Export-Import Bank

Nov 8, 2019 by AFP

Arlington, Va. – Americans for Prosperity issued a key vote alert on Friday, urging members of Congress to vote NO on the passage of the Export Finance Agency Act of 2019. This bill would reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, re-opening the door to cronyism and corruption, and forcing taxpayers to subsidize some of the most successful businesses at home and abroad.

AFP Vice President of Economic Opportunity, Russ Latino, issued the following statement:

“This scandal-plagued bank has been a flagship for cronyism, fraud, and abuse for years. The federal government has about as much business running a bank as it does an airline. It’s long past time for Congress to shutter this relic, and get American taxpayers out of the businesses of financing risky transactions for politically connected big businesses and wealthy foreign state-owned firms.”
