DES MOINES, IA – In its biennial report ranking America’s governors on their fiscal policies from a limited-government perspective, the Cato Institute has named Iowa’s Governor Kim Reynolds as the top governor for cutting taxes and spending.
Governor Reynolds has championed tax reform and responsible spending and has earned the highest score on Cato’s reports for 2022 and 2024. From empowering the legislature to speed up income tax cuts to phasing down the corporate tax rate, Governor Reynolds has been instrumental in countless efforts to minimize taxes on hardworking Iowans.
AFP-Iowa State Director Tyler Raygor released the following statement:
“AFP-Iowa deeply appreciates Governor Kim Reynold’s leadership in making Iowa one of the most tax-friendly states in the nation. She is a lean budgeter and has been a champion for cutting taxes and reducing the tax burden on Iowa families and businesses.
“While we’re not surprised Reynolds wins the top spot of all governors once again, we are proud to have her at the helm of our great state. As we look ahead to the next legislative session, we look forward to working alongside Governor Reynolds and the legislature to continue sound budgeting practices and making Iowa a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
