DES MOINES, IA – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Iowa (AFP-Iowa) is announcing eight additional endorsements to the Iowa State Legislature: State Rep. Brooke Boden (HD-21), Samantha Fett (HD-22), State Rep. Ray Sorensen (HD-23), State Rep. Hans Wilz (HD-25), State Rep. Mark Thompson (HD-56), State Rep. Heather Hora (HD-92), State Sen. Amy Sinclair (SD-12), Kara Warme (SD-26) and State Sen. Adrian Dickey (SD-44).
The newest slate of endorsed candidates totals 28 AFP-endorsed candidates in Iowa for the State Legislature.
AFP-Iowa State Director Tyler Raygor released the following statement:
“AFP-Iowa’s top priority this fall is electing principled conservative leaders to the State Legislature and our staff and volunteers are out in force across the state canvassing door-to-door on behalf of these endorsed candidates.
“When elected, these candidates will fight to lower taxes on Iowa families and support reforms that shrink the size and scope of government and gives power back to Iowans.”
Endorsed Candidates:
State Rep. Brooke Boden (HD-21)
As the chair of the Government Oversight Committee, State Rep. Boden has spearheaded deregulatory efforts by eliminating numerous unnecessary boards and commissions. She has been a champion for school choice and will continue to advance education reform in the legislature.
Samantha Fett (HD-22)
Fett is deeply passionate about education and will be a strong defender of school choice in the legislature. She has campaigned on tax cuts and a flat tax and will advocate for conservative fiscal policies when elected.
State Rep. Ray Sorensen (HD-23)
Throughout his time in the legislature, State Rep. Sorensen has been an ally for school choice and tax reform. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, he is a strong voice on responsible budgeting.
State Rep. Hans Wilz (HD-25)
A small business owner, State Rep.Wilz deeply understands the tax burdens facing Iowa families and businesses. He has been a consistent advocate for income and property tax reform and recognizes the importance of large-scale regulatory reforms.
State Rep. Mark Thompson (HD-56)
State Rep. Thompson has been a champion for individual liberty and small government. When reelected, he’ll continue to champion policies that keep government out of Iowans’ lives. As a member of the Environmental Protection Committee, Thompson opposes energy mandates and supports free market solutions.
State Rep. Heather Hora (HD-92)
State Rep. Hora has been a vocal advocate for school choice expansion throughout her first term in office. She has opposed top down energy mandates and supported polices that unleash Iowan’s freedom to flourish. She will continue to fight for tax, spending, and regulatory reforms in her second term.
State Sen. Amy Sinclair (SD-12)
Senate President Sinclair is a leader in the Senate and a valuable partner for AFP-Iowa under the dome. She has been a passionate advocate for school choice and will continue to be a strong defender of parental rights in education. Sinclair was instrumental in passing school choice, major income tax cuts, and will fight for more tax relief for hardworking Iowans.
Kara Warme (SD-26)
Warme is expected to be a strong advocate for health care reforms centered around a patient first perspective when elected to the legislature. As an advisor to a youth mental health network, Warme deeply understands the limits facing children’s access to mental health resources. She will support responsible taxation by advocating for property tax reform.
State Sen. Adrian Dickey (SD-44)
State Sen. Dickey has been a strong advocate for labor union and licensure reforms facing the legislature. As chairman of the Senate Workforce Committee, he has led efforts to advance deregulation and expand the freedom of all Iowa workers. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, he’s an ally on tax reform, as well as efforts to pass taxpayer friendly constitutional amendments. He’s been a key leader in fights against top-down energy mandates and a champion for free market energy policy.
