WASHINGTON, DC Americans for Prosperity’s Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement in regard to the House of Representatives passing a funding bill to keep the government open:

“The House of Representatives has passed a critical funding bill to keep federal agencies operational through the end of September. AFP commends House members for their leadership in advancing this measure, which takes us one step closer to averting a shutdown and helps members focus their attention on preserving vital tax cuts and preventing the largest tax increase in US history—one that could cost families an average of $1,500 annually. We urge the Senate to act swiftly to pass this funding bill, keep the government open, and begin their work to protect prosperity for millions of Americans by making the Trump tax cuts permanent.”
