AFP Applauds the U.S. Senate for First Step Towards Protecting Prosperity

ARLINGTON, VA— Today, AFP applauded the U.S. Senate for advancing a budget resolution that will help unlock key portions of President Trump’s agenda. Passage of this budget resolution is a welcome step toward reconciliation legislation, the first step in the process towards protecting prosperity and reversing a far-left progressive agenda that would increase taxes, restrict energy production, and undermine America’s national security at the border.

AFP’s top three priorities for the year are extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, increasing energy abundance, and improving border security. Once the House and Senate can agree to identical budgets, Congressional committees can start to write the details of legislation that will unlock these priorities.

Following passage of the Senate budget resolution, AFP’s Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner said:

“With control of the White House, Senate, and House, Republicans have a historic opportunity to use the reconciliation process to undo the damage of the last four years under the Biden administration and to preserve the most significant achievement of the Trump administration, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, in addition to securing our border and energy future. The Senate’s passage of its budget resolution brings us one step closer to achieving these key policy victories. We now call on Members of both chambers to work collaboratively and expeditiously to deliver for the American people.”

Earlier this year, Americans for Prosperity unveiled Protect Prosperity, a $20 million dollar nationwide campaign to activate our grassroots army in calling on Congress to renew President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
