ANCHORAGE, AK – On his first day in office, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum outlined his key initiatives, including a plan to unleash American energy starting in the Last Frontier.
Burgum’s Secretary’s Order 3422 directs the Department to prioritize the State of Alaska’s “abundant and largely untapped supply of natural resources.” Upon other priorities, the Secretary’s Order reinstates a previous Order allowing for the clean and safe development of the National Petroleum Reserve – Alaska (NPR-A) for energy resources.
Upon the announcement, AFP-Alaska State Director Bethany Marcum issued the following statement:
“We are pleased to see Secretary Burgum prioritizing Alaskan energy on his first day in office, a stark contrast from the past administration’s war on American energy. Rejuvenating resource development in Alaska will reignite the energy industry and bring well-paying jobs and opportunities to the state. AFP-Alaska applauds the Secretary and looks forward to unleashing a new era of Alaskan energy.”
