ANCHORAGE, AK – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Alaska (AFP-Alaska) applauded Governor Mike Dunleavy for introducing legislation to increase educational freedom in the Last Frontier.
Gov. Dunleavy introduced a package that would empower students and parents to customize education best tailored to their unique needs. Among other policies, the bill would remove unnecessary borders from public schools, allowing students to attend any public school in the state.
Upon the Governor’s announcement, AFP-Alaska State Director Bethany Marcum issued a statement:
“Every child in Alaska deserves access to a quality education, regardless of their ZIP code. We applaud Gov. Dunleavy for prioritizing Alaska’s students and parents by promoting public schools without borders.
“It’s imperative for Alaska to prioritize students over systems, and AFP-Alaska stands ready to work alongside Gov. Dunleavy and lawmakers to pass educational reform this session.”
