Testimony: Maryland House Health and Government Operations Committee Hearing on Certificate of Need (CON) Repeal

Feb 26, 2025 by Sofia Hamilton

On February 26, Sofia Hamilton testified on House Bill 735 for the Maryland House Health and Government Operations Committee. Hamilton urged legislators to repeal the certificate of need (CON) requirement for psychiatric facilities and services to ensure Maryland patients can access sorely needed mental health care services. While supportive of the proposed legislation, Hamilton asked the committee members to consider more expansive reforms to the state’s CON program in future legislative sessions.
