Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina Issues Statement on Senate Vote on Education

Jan 30, 2025 by AFP

Columbia, SC—Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) State Director Matt Humm today issued the following statement following the Senate’s vote to pass S62, but failing to garner enough votes to expand the education program universally:

“There is no better time than National School Choice Week than for legislators to stand up for education freedom. Today, South Carolina Senators missed multiple opportunities to make the Education Savings Accounts bill universal which is disappointing for learners across the state.

“While we are disappointed by the Senate’s votes, the fight is not finished and we will hold legislators accountable. AFP-SC will continue to stand strong in support of universal school choice, working with champions in the House to reach a better solution for students and parents. There is momentum to expand education freedom among families across the nation and we’re ready to get to work so that every South Carolina student has the access to education that fits their needs.”
