DENVER, CO – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Colorado (AFP-Colorado) launched a grassroots campaign urging lawmakers to reject SB25-005, a pro-union piece of legislation that would jeopardize workers’ rights. The bill seeks to repeal Colorado’s Labor Peace Act of 1943, threatening 80 years of worker protections, raising costs for small businesses and consumers, and undermining the constitutional right to freedom of association.
As part of the campaign, AFP-Colorado launched an online action center where Coloradans can contact Governor Jared Polis and their representatives and urge them to reject SB25-005.
AFP-CO State Director Jesse Mallory released the following statement:
“SB25-005 will cause direct harm to workers, businesses, and the stability of our economy. With increased costs, stifled competition, and jeopardized freedoms for workers in the state–this bill harms the people it claims to help. Workers should never be forced to fund political activities they oppose.
“Americans for Prosperity urges Governor Polis to prioritize the good of Colorado over union special interests. We encourage Coloradans to join our grassroots efforts in stopping SB25-005. AFP-CO is committed to working with lawmakers to champion policies that empower workers, small businesses, and economic growth.”
